CHATSWORTH, CA--Twelve of Steve Taylor's most popular songs are featured in a new one-hour live film performance, Limelight--The Film, now available from the Sparrow Corporation. Produced in 16mm stereo before a sold-out crowd of more than 20,000 at Britain's massive Greenbelt Festival, the film contains exclusive interview footage of Taylor along with reactions from the Greenbelt fans, plus his new "Lifeboat" conceptual video in its entirety.

Through satire and wit, Taylor offers a series of message-packed musical portraits with songs ranging from high-energy rockers, "This Disco," "On The Fritz" and "You Don't Owe Me Nothing," to conscience-stirring ballads, "Sin For A Season," "Hero" and "Over My Dead Body."

"Limelight is all of the excitement and energy of a Steve Taylor concert captured on film," said Bill Hearn, Sparrow's senior vice president of marketing and the project's executive producer. "It was our goal to create a film that would be the next best alternative to actually having Steve in person. I think we accomplished that with Limelight. When a communicator like Steve Taylor comes along, you want to be able to get him in front of as many young people as possible.

"The Limelight film is being distributed on a rental basis to churches, youth groups, concert promoters and schools in 16mm, VHS and Beta-Hi/Fi formats. We've developed quite an extensive promotional and advertising campaign for the Taylor film, in conjunction with Steve's live- concert Limelight album and the for-sale Steve Taylor 'Videoworks' collection," he added.

Hearn also pointed out that Sparrow has created a free discussion guide and leader's manual to accompany the film for those youth groups and churches who want to fully utilize Limelight as part of their ministry programming.

"Music is the language of my generation," states Taylor. "I want my music to communicate what it means to be a Christian in today's society. I want to challenge Christians to live out their faith in everyday life, and to dare others to open themselves to the idea that there may be more to Jesus than they thought."

Taylor, who received a Grammy nomination in 1985 for his first long- playing Meltdown album, has become one of the fastest rising contemporary Christian artists in the industry's history.

He has established an international following through critically- acclaimed albums and performances throughout the United States, Europe, Australia, New Zealand and South Africa.
